Honey Bears

Hello Honey Bear Families!

Welcome to the Honey Bear class! My name is Kayla Medford, and I am so excited and honored to be your child's teacher this upcoming school year. This will be my first year as a lead teacher at Child's Day CDC. I feel very fortunate to have spent time in the Ducklings Classroom this past summer getting to know many of you already!

My goal this year is to create a classroom culture that embraces independence, respect for one another, and constant exploration in a safe, loving, and inclusive environment. This age is such an exciting time in your child's life as they continue to work on their social/emotional development, develop language, and fine-tune their motor-skills. I believe strongly in celebrating the unique qualities of every child in my classroom!

Here is a little information about me: I am originally from Kingwood, Texas and recently moved to Austin. I received my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from The University of Texas at San Antonio. My concentration is in Special Education from Early Childhood through 12th Grade. I have always loved working with younger children and seeing the world through their eyes. I learn so much from the children that I work with. I also strongly believe that parent involvement and communication will be key to making our classroom successful so please never hesitate to contact me with any questions. Let's have a great year!

Warmly,

Kayla Medford
