Honey Bears

Hello Honey Bear Families!

My name is Arlena Brown, but everyone calls me Lena. I will be your child’s Lead Teacher in the Honey Bears class and I am very excited and humbled by this opportunity!  My goal is to have a classroom environment that welcomes and fosters age-appropriate self-sufficiency and learning through play.  I cannot wait to see what each Honey Bear is interested in so that I can provide materials and experiences in the classroom that they will be able to learn from.

Just a little bit about myself, I am originally form Pasadena, California, but I just moved back to Texas this summer from Fort Collins, Colorado.  I have also spent 7 years of my adult life in Detroit, Michigan where my husband of almost 10 years is from.  We have three children ages 6,7, and 8.

I have been in the Early Childhood field directly and indirectly since 2011. I have a Bachelor’s in Psychology with a concentration in Infant and Toddler Development.  I have worked with elementary school children up to 4th grade as an Americorps Volunteer as well as an Outreach and Marketing Associate for an Early Learning Community, Detroit Early Head Start on an administrative level, and I have been a mentor and advocate for families with young children as well as pregnant women and children.  I have also been a Lead Teacher with The Goddard School for 1-year olds and an Infant Supervisor Lead Teacher for Colorado Early Education Network for a teen mom program.  During my time here at Child’s Day, I was an interim Lead for the Koala’s classroom. I look forward to seeing how much more they will grow and blossom in the Honey Bears class this year!

Respectfully,

Ms. Lena Brown
