Field Mice

Hello Field Mice Families!

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself to you as the Field Mice lead teacher.

I moved to Austin this summer from Boulder, Colorado where I taught at a Montessori-inspired preschool for four years. Prior to that I lived in Asheville, North Carolina where I obtained my K-6 elementary teaching license from UNCA, worked as a lead preschool teacher, and taught elementary-aged children yoga and art at an after-school program. I am originally from Belmar, New Jersey and am thrilled to be in Austin.

A passionate believer in the significance of early education, I absolutely love working with preschoolers. Their genuine curiosity and awe for the world around them is so refreshing and their ability to be so present amazes me. I believe it is the role of a teacher to create a comfortable and purposeful learning environment to stimulate each individual learner so they may develop physically, intellectually, and socially at their own pace.

This year we will explore our world through science and hands-on discovery, strengthen our math and literacy skills through play and experience, move and breathe in yoga and mindfulness activities, and express ourselves through creative art techniques. All the while, focusing on building self-confidence, conflict resolution skills, and becoming independent learners.

I sincerely look forward to meeting each of you and your families and to working together to give your learners the best support possible.
